Welcome to Free Horse Racing Pictures.com!
Look no further to find free horse racing pictures and videos that capture the grandeur of the thoroughbred race horse, their magnificent strides, their noble bearing, and the thrill of victory as they glide past the wire.
This is your source for thousands of pictures and hundreds of videos of the most exciting moments in horse racing.
Pictures sometimes are more dramatic than videos. While videos provide a better overall conception of how a race unfolded, from how the horse broke from the gate, to its demeanor in the post parade, to whether it was a front running victory or a dramatic come from behind win.
A single picture if it is a good one, can often capture the spirit of a single moment better than a video. It is easier for the viewer to focus on one expression of the eye, the way the horse put its head down at the wire to snatch victory from his opponent by a short neck.
Videos however, often capture emotions which pictures alone cannot quite convey. Consider Secretariat’s thirty one length triumph in the 1973 Belmont Stakes. The replay of perhaps the most impressive race ever witnessed requires the full two and a half minutes to fully appreciate the ending. The race unfolded in three distinct parts: He and main rival Sham dueled head to head on the lead at a pace which would have meant suicide for any other horse but Secretariat (Sham never raced again), Secretariat drew away from Sham and opened up an insurmountable lead nearing the three-eights pole, and finally, he continued to increase his lead until the margin of victory showed thirty one lengths at the wire. Through all this was Chick Anderson’s memorable race call, which like a perfectly complementary movie soundtrack, enhanced the drama of what was unfolding. Who can forget his line “Secretariat is moving like a tremendous machine!”,just as Secretariat ran past a picture of the American Flag which entered the shot at just the right time.
Don’t forget about horse racings supporting cast though. The horses are of course, the main attraction, but the jockey’s that must pilot these 1200 pound animals are an equally important part of a horses success on the track, as are the trainers that care for them on a daily basis and we offer pictures and videos of all your favorite jockeys and trainers of today and of years past.
